Our students here at JE Rhodes took on the task of showing they are good citizens by being responsible and caring and bringing in pennies for Leukemia patients for two weeks. Students were made aware that by helping others they could make themselves feel good and learning that we know “one smile can make a world of difference,” so can one penny. Well we collected more than one penny. We collected enough pennies in only two weeks to add up to over $850. As a reward to classes who collected the most money Mrs. Oatley, the principal, Mrs. Dike the assistant principal and Mrs Henry, the counselor went into the classrooms and allowed students to do their hair and makeup on May 8th. The students were very excited and we are planning a celebration for those students as well. We want to thank our parents, as well as our community in your commitment in teaching our students to be better citizens and learn to be “bucket fillers” in our community for our world.
